Marquesas Islands: Me'ae Iipona

Even the phantasy movies seem to be boring if compared to the reality in Marquesas Islands, especially the amazing archaeological monuments. One of the most surprising ones is Me'ae Iipona - the largest cult site in Marquesas.

- The largest known sinkhole in the world is Xiaozhai tiankeng in China. It is up to 662 m deep and 626 m wide pit with vertical walls. On the bottom grows unique forest.
- There exists only a small patch of the unique Norfolk Island subtropical rainforest. Norfolk Island is the only place in the world, where the giant Norfolk pine (Araucaria heterophylla) and the tallest tree fern in the world - the 20 m tall Cyathea brownii are met in nature.

- Poás Volcano (Costa Rica) contains the unique Laguna Caliente - extremely acid crater lake. This volcano creates some of the most acid rains of the world, creating an area devoid of any vegetation.

- Monturaqui Crater (Chile) is located 3,000 m above the sea level. The meteorite, which created it, crossed only half of the total mass of atmosphere, if compared with meteorites, which fall into the sea.

Very interesting finds of extinct animals have been made in the Milodon Cave (Cueva del Milodón). This impressive cave at the foot of Patagonian Andes contained extremely well preserved remnants of exotic, enormous animals.

Chile: Dendroseris neriifolia - one of the rarest trees in the world
One of the most rare trees in the world is Dendroseris neriifolia. There are known only two trees, both growing in eroded ravine - Quebrada Lápiz - in the eastern part of Robinson Crusoe Island.
