Mande Burung near Balpakram

Many local people are convinced that in the extensive subtropical forest in Garo Hills live large (some 3 m tall), man-like creatures that are covered with hair. Especially frequently these animals are seen in a forested canyon near Balpakram.

Valley of Flowers

High-altitude Himalayan valley with beautiful meadows of alpine flowers complemented by beautiful views on surrounding mountains. Mass flowering starts in early spring and lasts up to September. Known in Hindu mythology since ancient times, inhabited by fairies according to local legends.

Depuch Island rock art

Rocks and boulders on this small island are covered with rock art by Ngaluma people to whom it is an important site of legends.

Port Arthur

Former convict settlement for hardest British and Irish criminals, built in 1853-1855. This site is renowned also as a haunted place.

Sonjuk Bridge

This historical bridge was constructed in 1290. A national monument since 1780, closed to traffic. In 1392 on this bridge was killed the famous scholar and diplomat Jeong Mong-ju, marking the end of Goryeo dynasty. Brown spot on the bridge, reportedly, marks the place of assassination and some tell that it becomes red during the rain.

Cheonji – abode of Lake Tianchi monster

According to legends and modern stories in this beautiful crater lake lives a monster.

Gatbawi

4 m tall, rock-cut statue of Buddha on the summit of hill. Statue has a separate stone hat. Statue was made in the middle of the 7th century AD and today it is believed that it fulfills almost any wishes from the whole heart.

Lake Alchichica

Unique maar lake with a high level of endemism, especially noted due to rare stromatolites met only in few locations around the world. Endemic salamander and fish. Renowned location of unusual experiences such as UFO sightings, lights in the lake.

Po Nagar

Ornate Hindu temple built by Cham people before 781 AD. The main tower is some 25 m high. Site of legends about the goddess of this temple.

Vũ Quang

Remote, forested region where numerous new species of animals and plants have been found over the last decades and several more are reported but their existence has not been proved yet. One of the most intriguing ones is batutut (Nguoi Rung) – a human-like creature that is approximately 1.8 m tall and covered with hair.
