Leang Tedongnge

A limestone cave in a secluded karst gorge. In this cave has been found the oldest known painting made by man. This painting is at least 45 500 years old and shows a group of three wild pigs, most likely Sus celebensis.

Lothal

One of most important cities of the ancient Indus valley civilization. Built around 2400 BC as trading city with its dock – the oldest known in the world. Numerous discoveries of world importance have been made here including the oldest known realistic sculptures in world. Nowadays remain lower parts of buildings.

Mungo Lady

Find of the oldest cremated human remains in the world. Contrary to the name it seems that here rests a male, who was cremated and sprinkled with red ocher some 41,000 (or even 42,000) years ago. This is the oldest use of ocher for burials in the world. Nearest find of ocher is some 200 km from this site.

Brewarrina fish traps

Impressive and complex system of stone settings serving as a trap for fish. It is possible that these structures have existed here for some 40 000 years that would make this structure the oldest in the world.

Murujuga cliff art

Over one million diverse petroglyphs, often showing also extinct animals such as the Tasmanian tiger (Thylacinus cynocephalus) as well as the oldest representations of the human face in the world. The largest collection of cliff art in Australia, created over more than 40,000 years.

Rŭngrado May First Stadium

The largest stadium in the world by capacity, with 150,000 seats. Constructed in 1989, used for sport events, politically motivated mass performances and executions.

UNAM Biblioteca Central

Large university library. Outside of the building is covered with the largest murals in the world, created by Juan O’Gorman from tiles in 1956.

Great Pyramid of Cholula

World’s largest structure, built in the 3rd century BC – 9th century AD. The base of the pyramid is 450 x 450 m, height – 66 m. The volume of the construction material exceeds the volume of the Great Pyramid of Giza nearly two times.

Cenacle – the site of the Last Supper

Legendary site – possible location of The Last Supper. This has been an important pilgrimage site with many structures built and destroyed. The current shrine was built in Gothic style. It is undated, from the 12th – 14th century. It is a mystery – who built it and when.

Angkor Wat

Considered to be the single largest religious complex in the world, built in the ancient capital of Khmers in the early 12th century. Considered to be one of the greatest achievements of humankind in architecture. Initially built as a Hindu monument, later converted into a Buddhist temple complex. Temple is adorned with more than 1 thousand m2 of high-quality bas-reliefs.
