Hveravellir Geothermal Field

Beautiful geothermal field and popular tourist destination. Area contains several notable hot springs and geysers, such as Gjósandi, Bræðrahver, Grænihver, Rauðihver, Öskurhóll, Fagrihver and others. Here are at least six geysers.

Hraunfossar

A very unusual, 900 meters wide waterfall, emerging from under a lava field and falling directly into the Hvítá river.

Hverasvæðið – Hveragerði Geothermal Park

Hveragerði Geothermal Park is located in the centre of Hveragerði town. Here can be seen several geothermal features including one geyser – Eilífur.

Volusia Blue Spring

Volusia Blue Spring is a 1st magnitude spring that beats from a large fissure – a cave that has been dived up to 38 m deep. Habitat of manatees.

Homosassa Springs Group

Homosassa Springs Group has some 20 springs. The most impressive is the group of headsprings with an output of 2,492 l/s. Habitat of manatees.

Deildartunguhver

This spring has got both high discharge (180 l/s) for a hot spring and very high temperature of 97 °C.

Vellir (Árhver) – geyser in the river

One of the weirdest geysers in Iceland is Vellir or Árhver. These hot springs and geyser have created a cone in the middle of the river.

Chassahowitzka Springs

Chassahowitzka Springs are powerful springs that have created underwater natural bridges and caves. The discharge of these springs is 4 360 l/s.

Ystihver and Hveravellir (Husavik) geothermal field

The northernmost geyser in Iceland and the whole world is Ystihver – the only remaining geyser in Hveravellir geothermal field.

Hunter Spring

Hunter Spring is 1st magnitude spring with an output of 878.4 l/s. This is subaquatic spring, the area around it is covered with park and housing.
