Small blowhole that creates a fountain at certain wind and wave directions.
Toilet Bowl in Oahu
Large hole in the rocks. With each wave, the level in this hole rises and then falls again through a cave. During storms here might rise fountains of water. Earlier this was a beloved swimming place, albeit dangerous. Now it is fenced off.
Spitting Caves in Oahu
Sea caves with blowholes. As the wave enters the cave, air pressure forces a slanted fountain of mist and water.
Haiku Stairs
Dangerous stairway with (possibly) 3922 steps. Originally built in 1943 for a secret war-time radio station. Currently, it is illegal to climb due to safety reasons and property issues. Many visitors though take this risk due to very impressive sights.
Pu’u O Mahuka Heiau
The largest heiau – ancient Hawaiian temple – in O’ahu. It was built in the 17th – 18th century and the area of the elevated stone platform reaches almost 8,000 m².
Windward Viaducts
Impressive pair of highway viaducts leading along the foot of Ko’olau Range. Viaducts are some 2 km long each, with both ends entering into tunnels.
Halona Blowhole
Powerful, visually very impressive blowhole that has formed in volcanic rocks. It is especially high – up to 9-10 m – at high tide and on windy days.
