Gold Crown Tomb (Geumgwanchong)

Gold Crown Tomb or Geumgwanchong

One of the Royal tombs of Gyeongju – large tumulus that was built in the 5th or 6th century AD. This tomb was very rich with treasures including very ornate golden crowns of Silla Kings. More than 40,000 artifacts have been recovered from this tomb – mostly jewelry and other precious items.

Donggureung Royal Tombs

Donggureung Royal Tombs, South Korea

The most impressive royal tombs of Joseon Dynasty. This group consists of nine tombs where 7 kings and 10 queens have been buried in the 15th – 19th century. In Geonwolleung tomb has been buried King Taejo – the first king in this dynasty.

Cheonmachong

Cheonmachong

One of the Royal tombs of Gyeongju – large tumulus that was built in the 5th or 6th century AD. This 12.7 m tall artificial hill has a wood-lined passage in it. 11,500 artifacts have been recovered from this tomb. The tomb contained an interesting drawing of so-called "Korean Pegasus" – a horse with eight legs.

Igeum-dong

Prehistoric settlement and necropolis with megaliths. Site was inhabited in 700 – 550 BC. Site includes 63 burials, including burials of high-ranked people and palisade. Interesting are remnants of two large raised-floor buildings.

Tu Duc Tomb

Huế, Tomb of Emperor Tu Duc

Large and ornate imperial tomb (in fact – complex of many buildings), built in 1864–1867 for emperor Tự Đức. Emperor used this structure as his residence long before his death and finally was buried elsewhere.

Khai Dinh Tomb

Khai Dinh Tomb

An ornate imperial tomb, built on a hill in 1920 – 1931 for the unpopular emperor Khải Định. This ornate structure blends Eastern and Western traditions in architecture and art. Site contains the biggest sculptures of dragons in Vietnam.
