Wondermondo has ranked the monuments of the world according to their popularity and impressiveness - map of whole world will show the best known and most impressive monuments while "diving deeper" in to the map will add new, lesser known landmarks.

Such ranking is highly subjective matter and I have done this with uneasy heart. But there is important practical reason: there is a need to avoid clutter on the maps. There are two drawbacks to such clutter:

• Too many symbols would cover the map and it would be hard to orientate and to find the right place;
• If map contains too many symbols, the page gets slow.

Thus landmarks of the world have been ranked from 1 to 9, where 1 is landmark of universal value to whole world and landmark 9 is interesting to a narrow community of specialists or to local community.

Please, don't be mislead by these rankings - any of monuments listed here is of world importance! Very often the beauty of monument ranked as 9 would leave you speechless (see Dry Creek wildflower meadows)!
