Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens
One of the oldest existing plantations in the United States, founded in 1681. The stately plantation house was built in 1935-1936 in a Colonial Revival style. Stories about ghostly apparitions around the kiln of the plantation. A famous feature of the park is Avenue of Oaks – more than one kilometer long, gorgeous avenue of moss-covered oaks.
Aga Khan Palace
Enormous, ornate palace, built in 1892. Now this is public building, mainly devoted to the memory of Mahatma Gandhi.
Umaid Bhawan Palace
Beautiful palace in Art Deco style, built in 1923 – 1943. One of the world’s largest private residences with 347 rooms. Built by Jodhpur royal family.
Hawa Mahal
Palace with unusual architecture, built in 1799. Resembles an enormous beehive with 953 small windows.
Gyeongbokgung
A royal palace complex, first built in 1395 and rebuilt in 1867, when 330 buildings with 5,792 rooms were constructed. One of the symbols of Korea. Currently, the complex is undergoing reconstruction.
Changgyeong Palace
Former summer palace of Goryeo Kings, originally built in the middle of the 15th century.
Changdeokgung
The royal palace complex of the Joseon Dynasty, an outstanding achievement of Korean architecture. The palace complex was built in 1405 – 1412 and currently, there are 13 buildings and gardens with 28 pavilions. The complex has free planning that is in a harmony with the hilly relief and nature.
Chapultepec Castle
Often called the only real castle in North America, this castle was built in 1785 – 1863. It has served also as a residence of emperor – Maximilian I. Ornate interiors.
Casa de los Azulejos (Mexico)
Urban palace from 1793 with three walls covered with beautiful blue and white tiles, hosts restaurant with unique interior.
Tu Duc Tomb
Large and ornate imperial tomb (in fact – complex of many buildings), built in 1864–1867 for emperor Tự Đức. Emperor used this structure as his residence long before his death and finally was buried elsewhere.
