Madjedbebe rock shelter
The shelter contains finds of the oldest known humans in Australia, 65,000 years old. Site contains the world’s oldest ground-edge axes and is adorned with some 1000 Aboriginal paintings.
Devil’s Lair
Cave – grotto with a 6.6 m thick layer of sediments. Archaeological research in the cave has provided valuable knowledge about the past of Australia. Human occupation in the cave started around 48,000 years ago.
Ngarrabullgan Cave
The oldest known human settlement in Queensland, over 37,000 years old. Cave floor has 27 layers of habitation.
Donkey Creek Wandjina paintings
Rock shelter with very interesting Wandjina paintings of high artistic value.
Nourlangie Rock (Nawurlandja)
Impressive cliff with numerous ancient shelters. Some, such as Anbangbang and Nangawulurr contain impressive paintings of mythological nature.
Ngamadjidj shelter (Cave of Ghosts)
Ancient shelter with ghostly white drawings created with clay. White color is associated with death and the spirit world.
Billimina
Impressive, giant cliff face that is covered with more than 2,500 cliff drawings. An interesting feature is drawings of many bars in horizontal rows – most likely this was counting. In the shelter at the cliff people lived over the last 22,000 years.
Gyeongbokgung
A royal palace complex, first built in 1395 and rebuilt in 1867, when 330 buildings with 5,792 rooms were constructed. One of the symbols of Korea. Currently, the complex is undergoing reconstruction.
Yangdong Folk Village
A very well preserved traditional village that was founded in the 15th century. A group of more than 160 traditional houses in dense forest, with local people still practicing traditions of the old.
Oeam Village
Well preserved clan village, developed by Yi family over the last 500 years. There are 69 households left, local people maintain their traditions.
