Nataraja Temple in Chidambaram

One of the holiest Shiva temples that represents akasha – aether. Ancient temple, it is known that it has been renovated in the 5th century and around 1213.

Annamalaiyar Temple

One of the largest temple complexes in India is devoted to Shiva and associated with fire. Temple here exists for at least 2000 years, the current one was built around the 4th century. Four very impressive gopurams – gate towers.

Konark Sun Temple

Abandoned temple complex that was built from sandstone in the 13th century. An exceptional structure of exquisite architecture, covered with beautiful stone carvings. The design in the plan is similar to a chariot, the whole sandstone structure is richly decorated.

Vaishno Devi temple

One of most revered sites in Hinduism devoted to goddess Shakti. Visited by million pilgrims each year.

Badrinath temple

One of holiest Hindu shrines, devoted to god Vishnu. Built in the 9th century AD. Ornate, brightly painted shrine with hot sulphur springs below it.

Edakkal Caves

Cave with unusual archaeological monument: 6 – 8 thousand years old petroglyphs that resemble ancient writing.

Flowerlike Bahá’í temple building, built in 1986.

Akal Takht

The seat of temporary Sikh religious authority – ornate building with gold-covered cupolas, located next to Harmandir Sahib.

Tawang Monastery

The largest Buddhist monastery in India and the second largest in the world, founded in 1681. It contains an important library.

Rumtek Monastery

A Tibetan monastery, initially built in the 16th century, it was rebuilt in 1966. It is the largest monastery in Sikkim and is located in a beautiful setting.
