The old Navajo Bridge
The oldest of two steel arch bridges across Grand Canyon. Both are more than 140 m above the river, 254 and 277 m long, built in 1929 and in 1995.
Hoover Dam Bridge
Bridge with the widest concrete arch in Americas, length of span – 320 m. Total length of bridge 579 m. Bridge has been built across Colorado River downstream from the Hoover Dam in 2010.
Haiku Stairs
Dangerous stairway with (possibly) 3922 steps. Originally built in 1943 for a secret war-time radio station. Currently, it is illegal to climb due to safety reasons and property issues. Many visitors though take this risk due to very impressive sights.
King’s Highway in Maui
This ancient paved foot trail was built in the 16th century, during the reign of King Pi’ilani to promote the trade on the island.
Windward Viaducts
Impressive pair of highway viaducts leading along the foot of Ko’olau Range. Viaducts are some 2 km long each, with both ends entering into tunnels.
Aloha Tower
This unusual and beautiful lighthouse was built in Art Deco and Neo-Gothic style in 1925. It is 56 m high with additional 12 m tall flag mast.
San Francisco cable cars
The last manually operated system of cable cars in the world. Development started in 1873. Now remain three lines.
Golden Gate Bridge
Iconic bridge, one of the most popular bridges in the world. This 2,737 m long suspension bridge was constructed in 1933 – 1937. Pylons are 227 m high, the span under the bridge is 67 m.
Miles Glacier Bridge (Million Dollar Bridge)
470 m long railway bridge, built in 1910. This expensive bridge currently stands almost without use, but it is cheaper to maintain it than to remove it.
Anton Andersen Memorial Tunnel (Whittier Tunnel)
4.1 km long tunnel – the second longest highway tunnel and the longest combined road and rail tunnel in North America. Basically constructed during the World War II, converted to combined road – rail tunnel in 2000.
