Al-Aqsa Mosque
One of the holiest sites in Islam – Muhammad was transported here during the Night Journey from Mecca. The second oldest mosque, originally built in the first half of the 7th century, current building from 1035. Located on Temple Mount – the holiest site in Judaism.
Cathedral of Havana
Baroque cathedral, started in 1748 as a Jesuit church, completed in 1777 as the church for Havana. The building has a beautiful, asymmetric facade.
Chapel of St Nicholas – Sint Nicolaaskapel in Nijmegen
Carolingian chapel, built shortly after 1030, the only Romanesque building in this part of Netherlands. One of the oldest buildings in Netherlands.
Notre Dame de Paris
Constructed in 1163 – the late 14th century. One of the most significant Gothic cathedrals and one of the world’s best-known monuments of architecture. One of the first buildings where flying buttresses were used.
Cusco historic center
The historical capital of the Inca Empire, inhabited since 900 AD. During Inca time (the 13th century – 1532) the city was developed according to a strict plan. After the Spanish conquest, the city has maintained much of its original planning and part of building stones, but there has been built a new, magnificent city, blending local and European traditions.
Las Lajas Sanctuary
Beautiful Neo-Gothic cathedral that was constructed in 1916 – 1949. Unusual due to its location over a deep gorge where the apparition of the Virgin Mary happened.
Iracoubou St. Joseph Church
This church was built by villagers in 1893. The interior of the church is beautiful – covered with 600 m² large, naive frescoes, painted by the convict Pierre Huguet.
Aramu Muru – the mystical portal
Giant stone carving in live rock, most likely unfinished. Represents a giant gate that leads into the cliff. Local stories about portal leading to the world of spirits.
Colonia del Sacramento Old Town
The oldest city in Uruguay, established in 1680. There have been preserved many old buildings and cobblestoned streets of this Portuguese-built city and this seaside city looks very romantic.
Pozo de las Animas – Well of Souls
Two closely located sinkholes with small lakes at the bottom. The largest is 101 m deep, including the 21 m deep, blue lake. Wind creates eerie, whistling sounds in the sinkholes.
