One of the holiest sites in Islam – Muhammad was transported here during the Night Journey from Mecca. The second oldest mosque, originally built in the first half of the 7th century, current building from 1035. Located on Temple Mount – the holiest site in Judaism.

After the Spanish conquest, the city has maintained much of its original planning and part of building stones, but there has been built a new, magnificent city, blending local and European traditions.

Beautiful Neo-Gothic cathedral that was constructed in 1916 – 1949. Unusual due to its location over a deep gorge where the apparition of the Virgin Mary happened.

Iracoubou St. Joseph Church

This church was built by villagers in 1893. The interior of the church is beautiful – covered with 600 m² large, naive frescoes, painted by the convict Pierre Huguet.

Pozo de las Animas – Well of Souls

Two closely located sinkholes with small lakes at the bottom. The largest is 101 m deep, including the 21 m deep, blue lake. Wind creates eerie, whistling sounds in the sinkholes.
