Nurmizi Waterfall in March 2008

This is one of the many waterfalls in the vicinities of Sigulda, and also a kind of entrance in Nurmižu ravine nature reserve – a natural wonderland with numerous beautiful, unusual, and… even mysterious landmarks. But, this is a strictly protected area, and entrance without a permit is not allowed.

The waterfall, though, is available and, in fact, easy to reach. It falls over the oolitic sandstone of the Upper Devonian (Frasnian stage) sandstone, Amata Formation.
