WorldYellow In detail

Inside the Sigulda Town are at least seven waterfalls (plus many more icefalls), but all of them are rather little known because this gorgeous town offers a lot more impressive natural and historical landmarks. Nevertheless, we are counting all of them here.

Pucu Gravas Falls (could be translated as Falls in Owl Ravine) could be the easiest to reach – this small waterfall is located right next to a street. This approximately 1.3 m high waterfall falls over the oolitic sandstone of the Upper Devonian (Frasnian stage) sandstone of Amata Formation.

During the winter ice formations might become wider as the water is searching for new ways around the ice – the width of these icicles increases to 3 m.

This small natural landmark is a kind of an early introduction of other, impressive natural and historical landmarks further below the ravine.
