WorldYellow In detail

This fantastic tree was a lucky find in the first half of 2021.

This tallest Sitka spruce was discovered by Michael Taylor and Tressa Gibbard and sometime later repeatedly measured together with Steve Sillett.

This tree grows among coast redwoods and, most likely, was forced to outperform these champions in the tree world. The diameter of the trunk at breast height is 2.73 m – the tree is incredibly slender! It is estimated that its age is 223 ± 33 years.

We can go on with this comparison – California has more landmarks and attractions than many large countries of the world.

The category includes some of the most impressive and interesting separate trees in the world. The total number of tree species in the world still is a wild guess – maybe 10,000 and maybe 100,000 but most likely somewhere in between. Every month there are reported new tree species from the whole world, including Western Europe.
